Best Blogger Job in The World: Final Day
February 22, 2009 08:47It’s the last day to apply for what’s been hailed as the “best job in the world” by the Australian tourism board: writing a weekly blog post, maintaining a video blog and uploading photos while exploring Australia’s Islands of the Great Barrier Reef.
The six month Island Reef Job - essentially being an evangelist for the Reef, pays approximately $100,000 USD for six months, working 12 hours per month (yes, per month). Last week, the site reported that over 15,000 applications had been received.
A skeptic would say it’s all just a smart marketing campaign by Tourism Queensland: applicants have posted hundreds of YouTube videos applying for the position and the media coverage has been extensive: Britain’s Telegraph newspaper reported in January that the site crashed after a sudden influx of traffic. That skeptic would possibly be right, but it’s certainly a novel way to allocate a $100K marketing budget. Your odds of getting the gig may be slim, but if your applications to join the Mashable team have fallen on deaf ears, you might still want to put your best flipper forward for the best blogging job (and viral marketing campaign) around. ---Related Articles at Mashable | All That's New on the Web:Blogger Servers Knocked Out for an HourBlogger Adds Video Uploading FeatureBlogger (finally) Implements Email Comment TrackingThe Blogger Divide?Feedburner Comes to Blogger: Google Analytics Next?Blogger Visitors Under Attack by MalwareBlogger Adds Middle Eastern Language Support
