Baris K - Eurasia III

September 16, 2008 19:26

Announcement I’ll be leaving for Vienna in a few hours and I’ll be absent during the week, but as always I’ve packed a few punches before leaving. After some years you get burnt by blogging and writing reviews - which I never thought was my forte anyways - keeping an eye on undomondo was becoming a burden. I’m sure most of the readers don’t read reviews anyways now that there are a lot of music resources to keep up with. I know because I’m one of them as well. So instead of writing reviews a few times a week, I’ve made a new category called quickies, where I’ll be slapping a video and a song together with artist infos and pointers to reviews. Now I feel great! and that’s the story of how I wrote about 10 quickies in a few hours.

Ok, my last review for the time being is for our close friend Baris K. who took the dance scene by storm with his Eurasia mixes. The Eurasia sound focuses on forgotten Turkish classics of soul, funk, disco and Anatolian rock from the 70s. This authentic blend of Anatolia has previously been only interesting to progheads but now it’s rejuvenated and ready for the dancefloor. This third mix unearths a whole new bunch of gems mostly reedited by himself. It was first broadcast on Beats in Space last week and it’s appreciated everywhere by vinyldiggers. Must give this a listen folks. this tuesday we’ve got mixes from Baris K (Istanbul) and Kool DJ Dust (Stockholm) on the show. Baris has done the final mix in his Eurasia trilogy (Part 1 on Alianfinkielkrautrock and Part 2 on Lovefingers) for us. He’s been working on this last part of the trilogy for the past 6 months and it’s definitely worth the wait! It’s all Turkish oldskool psychedelic soul-disco-folk-rock. Look out for vinyl releases of his turkish edits coming soon. Beats in Space
