Bilkom's Apple prices in Turkey

A Gizmodo post via the cmyplay blog has been circulating the twitter/reader/facebook/mailgroup circuits lately and I just wanted to make sure people know what we have to deal with here in Turkey as well.

The highlight of the infographic is an entry-level Macbook Pro 13" 2.26. It apparently costs $2068 in Brazil. The list price for the exact same machine in Turkey is 1199 Euro + 18% tax. Which comes out to about $2055.

Not bad, eh? :(

For the price of one of these entry level machines, you can get a Macbook Pro 15" 2.66 in the USA. And that is exactly what most people here try to do anyways. They buy their Macbooks from the US, add a 3 year AppleCare via Apple or ebay and they are set in the warranty department for 3 years as well. Bilkom--the Apple Authorized Distributor in Turkey--honours the AppleCare Extended Warranty as long as you can reproduce the original receipt.

Here is the full pricelist of shame.
